UX Crunch: Digital Personalisation with Foolproof

We’re back at Foolproof’s offices this month to explore Digital Personalisation.

Personalisation is the serving of unique content to a user based on the information known about them by the platform. When designed well, it can be the backbone of user experience design, as Netflix and Facebook have shown. It can help drive sales, build brand loyalty and help users learn, discover and complete tasks more easily.

The Event

Space for 80. We would like to invite you straight from work. Doors are opening at 6pm, with introductions at 6.20pm and talks beginning at 6.30pm sharp. There is a lot to get through and so we have a tight schedule. Please arrive on time to avoid missing the first talk.

6.00pm – 6.30pm: Doors open and networking

6.30pm – 7.00pm: Talk 1

7.00pm – 7.30pm: Networking break with drinks and pizza

7.30pm – 9.00pm: Talk 2, Talk 3, Talk 4

9.00pm: Head to The Waterpoet – a local pub for after event drinks and further networking opportunities!

Alex Erinle – Product & UX Designer & Consultant – Protofast

Alex ‘Delz Erinle is a Product Designer/Consultant with a background in consumer psychology. His experience includes working on innovative ideas remotely for small start-ups and working in agile environments for companies as big companies as BT. He is an avid reader and explorer with strong interests in Agile UX, Mass Customization & Multisided Platform Business Models and has Masters degrees in Marketing Management and Innovation & Entrepreneurship.

Designing for Mass Customization, The Future of Retail

This talk explains what Mass Customization is, how it differs from personification and explores how mass customisation could be used to redesign retail products making them more delightful to users.

Gagan Malik – Practice Director – Wipro Digital

Gagan is a seasoned experience designer specialising in design led transformation. He has worked on numerous digital transformation projects for companies like Google, John Lewis, EE and Aviva to name a few. In his current role, he leads the design practise at Wipro Digital.

Gagan will be talking about how companies can achieve competitive advantage by effectively using personalisation. Additionally, he will talk about why a ‘customer first’ approach across all customer touch points is the key to crafting personalised digital experiences.

Annie Maxted – Consultant – Foolproof

Have you ever been recommended a product and thought “I can’t think of anything worse?” or bombarded on a company’s homepage by far too much choice that you don’t know where to start? When people think of personalisation they think of cutting through the clutter, to content, products and services specifically for them.

But the true nature of its application means that, in many ways, personalisation can miss the mark and end up hindering our digital experiences, leaving people overwhelmed, confused or simply unsatisfied. Having identified the circumstances in which personalisation falls short of expectations, what can we do to overcome this and what should we be considering?
